Meet The Owners

Korey & Kollin DeBerg

Korey (right) and Kollin (left) grew up on a farm and loved hanging out in their dad's shop with their friends. They also loved having bonfires outside and drinking on the patio.

This rural lifestyle inspired them to create a venue where the same type of activities can be done with larger groups. They aimed to create the ultimate rural experience for events and large gatherings, where you can have yard games for both adults and kids, a large patio for socialization, a fire pit and live music entertainment.

Ultimately they wanted to build a venue that could offer a bride and groom an experience they wouldn't be able to have elsewhere.  This is definitely not your typical hotel or convention center reception.

Korey will manage Timbers Edge and you will see Kollin as one of the bartenders — he will ensure you have a good time!

Our Story

So why did we decide to launch a wedding and event venue?
Well, here is the story.

OUR STORY

As much as Korey would love to say this was his idea, he admits that this was 100% his brothers idea.

Kollin graduated from ISU in 2016 and the following year began going to a lot of his friends’ weddings, with some of them being in barn venues. So one day he casually mentioned to his brother that they should do something like that someday. Korey didn't think much of it and put the idea aside.

Another year goes by and Kollin is going to even more weddings and keeps making the same comments that they should be exploring this barn venue idea. Korey does agrees that it would be cool to do it someday, but put the thought to the side yet again.

The following year Kollin went to even more weddings and again made the same comment. Korey jokingly asked where would they put such an event center if they did it. In dead seriousness, Kollin responds, "By The Sac and Fox Overlook — dad already owns land there". Just like that, Korey quickly went from joking around with Kollin the past few years to realizing that he was really onto something here.

In early spring 2019, Korey spent a lot of time researching this kind of business to see if they could do it in Hardin County. Then he put together a business plan. After realizing that this made sense for them, they moved full steam ahead.

What was once just a half-serious idea, has now become something both Kollin and Korey are proud to offer Hardin County and those looking for a rural experience.
